Explain what your role entails at ChappellRoberts.
As an AE, my role involves nearly every step from strategy to execution to measurement in order to deliver great ideas for our clients. I work directly with both our clients and our internal departments to help bring projects and campaigns to life. There are so many moving pieces, and it’s up to me to stay on top of it all and ensure it all works seamlessly together.
What do you believe is the winning formula to ensure the work produced at ChappellRoberts keeps such a high standard?
An open mind. You never know when great ideas will arrive or what package they’ll be in. And most of the time, ideas take nurturing before they ever reach their fullest potential. Being able to see that potential, to grow and not stem creativity through collaboration, keeps CR on its game.
Who is one person you would love to collaborate with? Why? (This doesn’t have to be restricted to someone in the creative industry: a musician, actor, athlete etc.)
This is a tough one! I’ve always been a huge Chuck Palahniuk (author of Fight Club) fan, so it’d be great to create a short story or some sort of twisted journalistic piece with him. Either him or go crazy with Lady Gaga on a music video!
What would your advice be to someone wanting to pursue a career in the creative industry?
Being in a creative industry takes a level of talent, but with equal amounts of humility. No matter what level you are, recognizing that you can learn something from every single person you encounter will serve you well and only elevate how you create.
Try and think of you most ‘wow’ moment at ChappellRoberts to date. What was it, and what made it so memorable?
I actually have four of them. I’m lucky enough to work with DTCC in a variety of ways, and my first website project as an assistant AE was working on the company’s 2012 digital annual report. The day it launched was such a proud moment—at the end of what felt like a marathon development cycle was a great end product and a happy client. But fast forward to today and three annual reports later, and I’ve been continually amazed by the teamwork and creativity it takes to launch such a big project. We always try to “one-up” ourselves, and it’s one of my favorite challenges every year.
