The annual Gasparilla parade draws in crowds by the hundreds of thousands. The event attracts floats, pirates and a wonderfully ridiculous number of beads. But these beads sink to the bottom of our bay and harm wildlife. That’s why we stepped in to create a brand for the city’s awareness campaign.
With all the commotion around our beloved parades, we knew the name and branding needed to be simple, playful and eye-popping enough to capture the attention of boaters and parade-goers. We soon decided on Bead-Free Bay and created the visual identity to accompany it.
Less than 24-hours after the initiative’s launch #BeadFreeBay is trending in a big way. The topic is being debated on every major Tampa media channel and across social. This project holds a special place in our hearts as we help the city we love to spread this important message.
