4 Amazing Ways Pokémon Have Taken Over Tampa Bay
July 6th 2016. The day the world was changed forever.
Alright that may be a bit dramatic, but you have to admit the Pokémon Go app has had a surprising impact on us all. Players and non-players alike are noticing the phenomena as it consumes every part of our day-to-day lives.
In Tampa Bay especially, we’ve noticed more than a few changes:
1. If you look close enough, you’ll see Tampa in a whole new light:
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released their own version of Pokemon Go. I personally would like to catch myself a McCoy-achu or a Winston-asaur. In other news, making Pokemon puns is hard.
The Tampa Bay Lightning logo has also been Pikachu’d.
Most people feel the city has changed for the better.
2. Office life downtown has also gotten a lot more interesting:
Our agency is infested with the little guys…
They show up at meetings uninvited.
It’s fun enjoying the local wildlife.
How are creatives supposed to finish projects with Rattatas skittering across their keyboards?
3. Meeting people with the same hobby is easier than ever before.
There are Pokémon pub crawls happening all over the city!
4. Even local businesses are capitalizing on the popularity of the new app.
First Chance Last Chance Bar in Ybor is appealing to the Pokemon trainer in all of us.
And Tampa Parks and Rec has shown us the real value of venturing outdoors.
It’s been exciting to see how our community has responded to Pokémon Go. We cannot wait to see what else Tampa has in store for us.
