At ChappellRoberts, we believe we’re the perfect mix of smart, switched on individuals who come together to create an award-winning combination. Let’s take a look at some of the people behind this lethal recipe for success.
Explain what your role entails at ChappellRoberts.
My job as Project Manager is to ensure that all of the projects that we work on are completed on time. I set up an initial schedule, and each day track the project through to completion. I also work closely with the creative team to prioritize their projects and balance workloads. In my role I get to collaborate with every department and things are constantly changing – I love it!
“I’m not bossy, I just know what you should be doing.”
What do you believe is the winning formula to ensure the work produced at ChappellRoberts keeps such a high standard?
One of the great things about ChappellRoberts is that everyone is very passionate about what they do. It’s a great team who enjoys being together and working together – and that’s hard to find. There are times when those passions conflict, but overall there is a mutual respect and understanding that everyone is working to create the best possible product.
Who is one person you would love to collaborate with? Why? (This doesn’t have to be restricted to someone in the creative industry: a musician, actor, athlete etc.)
Although I interact with every department in the agency, I’m the only project manager on the team. So in a sense, I’m in a silo. I love to talk with other project managers to learn how they may handle certain situations. I’ve been doing this for a long time, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t learn something new. There may be other ways that I haven’t been exposed to. I am active on several agency and process forums and reach out to others to share ideas and learn how others do this same job.
What would your advice be to someone wanting to pursue a career in the creative industry?
Be open-minded and flexible – you never know where your path will lead! I started out as a graphic designer and soon realized that I preferred project management – it is more of a natural fit for my personality. But I’ve also done account service, production and billing. Being open to helping out in any area that I’ve been asked to has made me more well-rounded. I have a better perspective on what each department does and what their pain points are. By understanding the full picture, I can help to shape processes that will be a benefit to the entire agency.
What’s a quote you live by?
Let it go.
As a compulsive planner and scheduler of all things, in my personal life I often have to remind myself to take a step back and just let things happen.
